The Day Before

This is this year Ramadan Bazaar's site. It's located on the Town Square. Those tents were stalls for selling foods, drinks, cookies and sorts. In a Ramadan Bazaar you'll find most of the foods that are not sold year round.

The building on the right hand is the tallest building in the state......27 floors and the middle one is RH Hotel. Does RH rings a bell..........well this belongs to the richest man in Sibu (top 10 in Malaysia).

Yamaha 200

Yamaha engine is very popular for speed boat operators. The one here is the 200 hp saltwater series. It is very durable 2 stroke series , V6 engine with displacement of 158.4 ci or 2596cc.
With RPM range of 4500-5500, the ride is very smooth.

Even choppy water is not a problem, the ride is still smooth as the boat cuts through the waves.

The power is awesome and speedwise it's so amazing. A distance of 100 miles only takes about 90 minutes. The same distance covered will takes 2 solid hours by express boat.

Navigating small river is not a problem and speed is still maintained. This is possible because the shaft length is only 25 inches, whereas the gear ratio is 14:26.

Home Trip

Wow, the water level seems to be high and rising. That's not a good sign for those farmers who plants "hill paddy". By right they should have completed the burning cycle and starts planting. But then rain comes almost every week (i'll be posting about hill paddy later). For the next half month. i'll be in my comfort zone.

At this time of the year, not much passengers for these express boats. When the schools holidays starts and festive season comes, the volume of passengers will be extra ordinary huge. One of these boats can carry up to 120 passengers, while the larger ones can accommodate up to 200 people per trip.

Not only people are transported by these boats. They also carry cargo such as foodstuff and livestock. Cargo are loaded on the top and covered with canvas so as to prevent them from being blown away or getting wet if it rains.

This is the inside view in the economic class. The smaller boats have 5 seats in a row whereas the bigger ones have 6. The journey is quite long , almost 3 hours downstream. As for upward journey it is anything from 3.5 to 4 hours.

A TV set is provided. Usually they show the latest film and the format is DVD.As for me, half way through the journey, i usually fall asleep.

TODAY'S INSPIRATION: How to Stay Young!

1. Throw out non-essential numbers.
This includes age, weight, and height.

Let the doctors worry about them. That is why they get paid.

2. Keep only cheerful friends.

The grouches pull you down.
(Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

3. Keep learning:
Learn more about th e computer, crafts, gardening, whatever.
Never let the brain get idle. ?'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.'
And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with her/him !

6. The tears happen:
Endure, grieve, and move on.
The only person who is with us our entire life, is our self.
LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love:

Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.
Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health:
If it is good, preserve it.

If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips.

Take a trip to the mall, even to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love, that you love them - at every opportunity.

MARRIAGE: BEFORE AND AFTER

Before marriage.....

He: Yes. At last. It was so hard to wait.

She: Have you ever cheated on me?
He: No! Why are you even asking?
She: Will you kiss me?
He: Every chance I get.
She: Will you hit me?
He: Are you crazy! I'm not that kind of person!
She: Can I trust you?
He: Yes.
She: Darling!

Dark Clouds

When the sky turns dark, shows that rain is on the way. If you are traveling in an open boat on the river, you have all the reasons to be afraid.

The view is very spectacular, but danger still lurk behind. If there is lightening, thunder and windy, the dangers are multiplies. Chances of being struck by lightening may be remote. Winds will makes the river choppy and the ride will be extremely uncomfortable.

As the clouds are getting heavy and heavier, and thunder rolls in the distance, your heart beats faster. What if it rains in the upper reaches of the river, half way to your destination. Knowing that, if it rains now, within the hour, the water level will rise drastically and the currents will be swift.

But, the light in the horizon indicates, that the wind is blowing the clouds away from the river. You saw hope and relief and feels happy that God has answered your silent prayer. The sky clears up and you could relax a bit. You can never know if the weather becomes better or getting worst.......

Satelite and Services

Nowadays, no rural areas is remote enough. Physical accessibility may be difficult and needs much endurance. By utilizing the "world without border" concept, literally you could be anywhere at any time.
One of such utility is the usage of satellite dish for receiving TV signals. There are various types that you can purchase from the shop. The price range is very competitive. For fixed type (without motor) the range is RM 100.00 to RM 250.00, by adding another RM 100-RM 150, you'll get the motorized type.(1 USD=RM 3.20).
Since these dish are fixed type, the positioning determines the TV signals that they could receive.

If the dish is placed horizontally, as the one on the right, the signals will be from Indosat and as such, most of the TV channels are from Indonesia.

Slanting the dish a little bit, signals from Malaysian TV channels will be at it's best. Besides Malaysia, signals from other ASEAN countries could also be viewed.

The small dish next to the windows is solely for viewing "pay per view" service provided for Malaysian viewers. You choose what package you prefer, and they will charge you on that. Since this is a subscribe service, the popularity in the rural areas is not so high.

Faces: Dear and Close

The three faces that have built the league of their own; records and achievements to be proud of.
One being the the elected president for three different school clubs during a single year. The other achieve deans award in the first year, while the other broke the school record by being the first student to achieve all straight A's in 22 years. To top that, all three were born at different districts.

Thousands faces and thousand smiles but only one that always make my heart beats faster. The face that is permanently etched in my mind.
Three faces with smiles that light up my days and nights. The faces that make me proud.

The face and smile that will always reminds me, no matter how long, winding and dusty the road is, there is always smiles waiting for me at the other end.

The sweet and cute smile reminds me that my little girl has grown up.

The darling of the family and also handsome boy poses with a colourful character. These were the faces and smiles that were dear and close to me. I missed you all......................
