Aftermath

During the height of the flood, the jetty was totally submerged and those users have to find an alternative place for berthing.

When the water receded, mud was deposited and formed a thick layer. With so much mud in the water, it was not hard to imagine that the folks in Sibu put a total blame on silting of the mighty Rejang as the major cause for flooding in Sibu.

The politicians here in Sibu deny that silting and shallow rived bed is the major cause for flood. They deny everything now

Did they deny that, BF? I did not see or hear that? Of course, there are OTHER factors too, I'm sure you cannot deny that...and according to the news report today, flood-mitigation works will begin soon...and among those mentioned, dredging! If there's no silting, why the need for dredging?
